How do you make your blog a community? You might find that you aren’t getting a lot of reader engagement on your posts. There are some ways you can attempt to fix that. Having a blog doesn’t have to be all business, you can make friends with your readers and share a bit of yourself. Here are some tips to make your blog a community.
Have a design that keeps readers engaged. If you have a great blog but the reader doesn’t know how to comment, this can make visitors leave frustrated. Blog designs can be hard to figure out sometimes. Don’t be that blog.
Comment on other blogs but don’t be annoying and spammy. Pinning posts is great but you should engage with other blogs too, not just read them. I’m personally trying to get better at this. Comment because it’s a great post, not because you want traffic.
Reply to your own comments. This is a great way to build community. Let your readers know they are valued.
Have a call to action at the end of your blog post. Do you struggle with what to say? Ask your readers to leave a comment and share their stories. End with a question.
Make friends. Followers can only get you so far. You need to engage your followers and make them friends. Seeing your social account grow is awesome but getting real feedback and friendship is even better.
Share your personality and don’t be all business. Share your failures along with your success. Try to be transparent and not 100% professional all the time. My personality can be a bit quirky but I’d like to share more of that in my posts. People will be happy to see that you shared a bit of your personal life. Be authentic, vulnerable, and imperfect.
With these steps, you should have more community on your blog. In what ways will you increase your engagement?
