Are you doing research on blogging or do you already have a blog started? Perhaps you are wondering how you can be successful with your blog. You might see bloggers that are super successful and want some of that for yourself. To succeed in blogging, there are certain habits you need to see success. Here are a few to get you started.
Treat it like a business. If you don’t treat your blog like a business, then that makes it a hobby. If you are blogging for a hobby that might mean you are doing it for free. Only business owners are going to see the success you are after. Take it seriously. Don’t be afraid to invest in it. Read and research constantly. You need to commit time to grow your blog it and make it better.
Determine who your target audience is. You need to know who they are and what while benefit them. That will allow you to create content and products just for them. You’ll need to listen to your audience and solve their problems. You can’t just have an online diary and expect to make an income.
Post regularly. You don’t have to post every day. But you do need a schedule, and you need to stay consistent. Check out my post on How to Blog Consistently. The people who read your content should know when to expect new content from you.
You take the time to create quality content. Don’t rush. It might take you longer, but it is better to perfect your work. Make sure to use Grammarly before you publish it.
Set goals and achieve them! Set your sets high on goals that are challenging but doable. Do you want to write an ebook? Plan it out and see it through. Maybe you have a social media strategy to get more page views. Either way, you can do it.
Plan ahead. I highly suggest keeping a planner of some sort. Plan your posts with the Erin Condren Deluxe Monthly Planner, Smart Blog Planner, EPIC BLOG: One Year Editorial Planner, or Michael’s Recollections Planner.
Be passionate about what you do. Its okay to want money, but you need to love it, too. Money probably won’t keep you in it for the long haul.
Engage your audience. Give calls to action to leave comments on your site. Respond to every comment. Use social media to actually be social. Try some social media scheduling tools, like Tailwind for Pinterest, Planoly for Instagram, or Recurpost for Facebook and sharing blog posts.
Practice self-care. Burnout is real and you don’t want that to happen to you, as it will set you back. Keep working hours and try not to go over them too often. Check out my post on Self-Care Tips When You Feel Overwhelmed as a Blogger.
Don’t compare yourself to the blogger making $50k per month. That’s awesome but it's not the norm. Remember, set realistic goals. Maybe you will get that big eventually but don’t be depressed because you have a small blog.
Be persistent. You won’t see success in a day. It takes some time for blogs to generate income. Keep working at it.
Blogging takes persistence and hard work but it is so worth it. I hope you found these tips helpful and I am cheering you on. What blogging habits have you implemented to see success? Let me know in the comments below.

If you are interested in starting a blog of your own, I created a tutorial that will help you, How to Start a Blog. If you are asking yourself “Can you seriously make money blogging?” My main tip is to be self-hosted. This is essential if you want to monetize your blog. It also makes you look more professional to companies you will partner with. Blogging income won’t happen unless you are self-hosted. You can pick from these links: Bluehost, or HostGator.
