Having an Etsy shop is fun and exciting. However, to see any success with it is also a lot of hard work. You’ll need to have a strategy to get views and sales. There are definitely mistakes to avoid when opening an Etsy shop.
Not having a pretty banner.
The banner shows you have a brand and take your shop seriously. Many sellers don’t have one or put pictures of their kids. It’s easy to use a photo editor to create a banner, something like Canva or PicMonkey can help you create the perfect banner for your shop.
Having a really long shop announcement.
This is not the place to put policies or information about your shop, there are separate sections for those. This is a good place to put sales or a call to action.
Not filling out your about page.
This tells your story and why you make beautiful items. You can share your creative space, too. You can link social media and a blog if you have one as well. You can also use reviews from customers, but perhaps remove their names for privacy.
Having confusing policies.
You customers should make an informed decision when they purchase from you. Be simple and positive also. Leave your customers with a sense of protection and confidence in your shop.
Not having international shipping.
Many shops only ship within their own country. It can take some trial and error to get this right, but it opens you up to a large customer base.
Not having good photos.
Images are a powerful tool on Etsy, and even if you have a great product, with poor photos it won’t sell. Are they consistent? Do they bring a sense of quality to your shop? Are they in line with the style of your shop?
Having long descriptions.
Short paragraphs and bullet points are the way to go. Show personalities and connect like a friend.
Not using tags.
Tags are how you get found in search and they are very important to your shop. Get creative.
Not taking custom orders.
If you can create a customer you should really offer it.
Having an Etsy shop is a great way to make a side income doing something you love. If you go about it the right way, you could even end up earning a full-time income. These tips will help you on your journey to being a great seller. You can visit my Etsy store HERE.

If you are asking yourself “Can you seriously make money blogging?” My main tip is to be self-hosted. This is essential if you want to monetize your blog. It also makes you look more professional to companies you will partner with. Blogging income won’t happen unless you are self-hosted. You can pick from these links: Bluehost, or HostGator.
