Your blog is a business, and it's important to track what you are doing and make sure it is bringing you closer to your long-term goals. Here are some questions to ask about 2017.
What worked and what didn’t work this year? Make sure you are honest with yourself. Did something you thought would turn out great not resonate with your readers? Maybe you decided to make a course but the launch did not go well. Did you earn with affiliate marketing? Build on things that went well and discard things that did not. It is important to learn from our mistakes.
What is the new thing you want to try in 2018? Are you looking to grow your email list so you can increase your income? Do you want to write an ebook? Creating something new can be scary, but you never know until you try! Survey your audience and decide if your new project is a good fit.
How can you add to what you’ve already done? Should you make your first ebook an online course? Did you really enjoy Facebook Live? Then maybe you should start a YouTube channel. Your audience wants more of what worked, so make sure you go in that direction.
What do you want to learn to do in 2018? Are you scared to try something new that will be good for your business? Maybe you need to get more comfortable on video. Do you want to learn how to do paid advertising? Take a course and learn a new skill. Make sure to do your research before you choose a course, though.
Setting 2018 goals.
Traffic goals: What were your numbers this year? Has it gone up or down? Would boosting it increase your income? Maybe you need to learn more about Pinterest or SEO. Maybe your website needs a new design.
Email subscriber goals. How many people do you have on your list? Is it up significantly? You need to analyze what worked and what didn’t in 2017. Growing your list is arguably the most important thing you can do for your business. If you focus on one thing in 2018, make it that.
Income goals. Did you make what you wanted to this year? Did you make more than you spent? Incorporate ads, sponsor content, affiliate marketing or sell your own products.
Collaborations. Did you collaborate with other bloggers this year? This can help grow your following. Make networking a goal for 2018.
These are just some of the things you need to think about in 2018. You’ll want to make sure you grow your business and learn from any mistakes you made in 2017.
