Living the freelance life with a four hour work week is a dream for many. They say you can create a blog around your passion and make thousands while doing so. If you look at the income reports from bloggers on Pinterest, this seems to be happening for everyone. Can it happen to you too? Well yes, and no.
You might not be able to monetize your passion. It depends. If you want to start a blog, you want to choose something that you can monetize easily and will do well on Pinterest and other social media. You can write all the great content you want, but the key is to market it also. Or maybe, you don’t have a blog and you just want to be a VA, or you’re a YouTuber, or something else. There are so many ways you can make money remotely now.
These are just some of several ways to make money on the road. How do you focus when there is so much to see? You must also find the time to work.
Set your priorities. You can’t travel even in less developed countries without SOME income. So however you make money, you need to have time set aside to do your thing. One way to keep track of your schedule is to have a planner. Here are several you can choose from:
What is urgent and needs to be done right now? Do that first. It’s best to get tasks you don’t really want to do out of the way early in your workday, in my experience.
Tasks that are not urgent or important may need to be reevaluated to see if they need to be done at all. If you don’t have time for this stuff you may want to consider outsourcing these as well.
Have a plan and break things down into smaller steps. Know what you need to have done by the end of the day. You can do this in your planner.
Track your time. Do it for every new task and then you’ll know how much time to set aside for the next time you have to do it. This way it will be easier to set an hourly rate for yourself, as well. Make sure to batch and do similar tasks together and waste as little time as possible. Take frequent breaks also.
Be aware of the amount of time you have for unplanned unpredictable things. When you’re on the road all kinds of things can happen that become time-consuming whether for pleasure or otherwise.
Find a balance. You may not be able to work 40 to 60 hours a week while traveling. Some people can. Pay attention to what you are capable of. Don’t overdo it or you’ll burn out or not enjoy your trip.
Living the freelance life with a four hour work week is a dream for many. While a four hour work week probably isn’t doable, living life while traveling certainly is. There’s no reason why you can’t take your “work from home” around the country or even overseas. Life is short, so if you want to travel get out there and do it!

If you are interested in starting a blog of your own, I created a tutorial that will help you, How to Start a Blog. If you are asking yourself “Can you seriously make money blogging?” My main tip is to be self-hosted. This is essential if you want to monetize your blog. It also makes you look more professional to companies you will partner with. Blogging income won’t happen unless you are self-hosted. You can pick from these links: Bluehost, or HostGator.
