If you have a blog as a business it seems like the tasks you have to do are never-ending. Coming up with content ideas, scheduling social media, nurturing your email list. You may have client work on the side if you are operating a service business as well. So how can you be more productive in your blogging business?
Work will take however long you allow. No matter what you are working on, it’ll take however much time you set aside for it. If you are in a hurry you can write a post in an hour, but if you give yourself three, it will take three.
Time is not always working against you. Make friends with time. If you effectively use your time you’ll have enough to get everything done.
Have a morning routine. Have your main 3 tasks written down for the day so you can focus on them after you wake up, have coffee, etc. Take a moment to figure out how to start the day right. For me, it is a ton of coffee and emptying my email inbox.
Plan. Whether you love paper planners or digital, find one and stick to it. I do a mix of both electronic reminders and a paper planner. It works for me.
Make to-do lists. In my planning, I have all my task for the day written out so I don’t forget anything. My memory is horrible (chronic illness) so I absolutely have to do this.
Create time blocks. Breaking down your day will get you focused and you’ll get more done.
Give a generous amount of time for each task. Plan in a buffer time around your appointments to allow for unexpected things or procrastination. You can easily do this in your planner.
Do weekly and monthly reviews. Daily tasks are essential but you need to make sure your current system is working for you. This will help you keep goals front and center. You’ll stay focused on the right path.
Have dedicated working hours and don’t allow people to bother you during them.
Clean your workspace. Make it personal and have it reflect you. Consider creating a motivation board for above your desk to keep you focused on what you really want to achieve.
With these steps, you should be able to get more done in your blogging business. You’ll be focused and ready to succeed.
