Do you blog, or are you looking to start a blog?
Have you sat down to write a blog post and not known what to write about? Sometimes you have ideas but you aren't sure how to put them on paper, or if they are relevant. This is how to write an epic blog post.
Brainstorm a question from your audience that needs to be answered. If no one is asking about your topic then it isn’t worth writing about. You need to solve a problem for your readers. Some ways to do this would be to search in niche-relevant Facebook groups for phrases like “help with”. You could also ask your email list. You can also use the Pinterest search bar. There are various ways to find out how to help your audience, and it is crucial for a successful post.
Determine the purpose of your post. You need to have a purpose to every post that is on your site. It’s the truth, whether you want to admit it or not. Determine what goal you are working toward and figure out how this blog post will get you there. Are you trying to prompt readers to click a link? Get readers on your email list? These are questions you must ask yourself.
Research keywords. If you want good SEO, this is critical. The Google AdWords Keyword Planner is a great tool to use. You can use the search bar on Pinterest too.
Think of a great clickable title for your post. You should spend a decent amount of time thinking about this. Don't make it clickbait, but make sure it promotes interest and remains relevant to your content.
Create an SEO title, meta description, and permalink. Research SEO, this is key.
Write valuable content. Your actual content is very important, and generally long-form content does better. At a minimum, your blog post should be at least 300 words. You’ll need to put in research and effort in order to do this.
Consider a freebie or content upgrade or relevant bonus for each blog post. You want to be growing your email list and you do this by providing value.
Make enticing social media images. Try some new social media tools, like Tailwind for Pinterest. You get a free month by using my referral link. You’ll want to create great images for social media, which you can do in PicMonkey.
With these steps, you should be creating an epic blog post. It may be tempting to just write a blog post about your day, but if you are trying to replace your income with blogging I can promise you that writing about your life is not the way to go about it. By all means, share something relevant but treat your blog like a business, not a diary.
