Have you heard of the benefits of blogging? You get to do what you love and possibly make a full-time income while writing about your passion. While all of that may be true, there are also other things you might learn from blogging.
Always be yourself. If you try to be someone you aren’t it will come through in your writing. Most likely you won’t even stick with it because you aren’t being true to yourself and your passion. If you go into blogging simply for the money you won’t last. It takes a really long time to earn from blogging in most cases. It's a passion project, and you need to be yourself and show your expertise on your subject of choice in your own way.
You have to put in the work. You’ll have to research blogging trends, and things to write about. Blogging is hard work. If you are upset your platform isn’t going anywhere, perhaps it is because you haven’t put in the time and effort. Blogging is not a get rich quick scheme, it's actually very hard to do. You need to focus on your brand and get things done in order to succeed.
Already have a blog?Try some new social media tools, like Tailwind for Pinterest. You get a free month by using my referral link. You’ll want to create great images for social media, which you can do in PicMonkey.
Put your blinders on. You’ll always be looking to improve your brand, but don’t focus on other blogs that are hitting six figures all the time. It may seem effortless for them but the truth is it took them possibly years to get to that point. Don’t copy what others are doing, learn from them but focus on yourself and the tried and true methods of growing your reach.
You can’t please everyone. Stay true to yourself and be honest, but be prepared to get rude comments, it's the nature of the internet. Try not to focus on them and stay positive. You can’t make everyone happy 100 percent of the time. Try to be professional or just ignore it. Do not stoop to their level, ever.
Give yourself a grace period. You may not have gotten everything done today but don’t worry, you can do it tomorrow. Work on your time management skills. Have a planner, I have this one, whether electronic or paper and try to stick to it. Don’t waste time on social media unless you are working on your brand or you are on your own personal time. Treat blogging like a job but don’t get too upset if you don’t check all the boxes off every day.
