Is your dream to work remotely? Mine was. I started researching content creation and also experienced a little trial and error when I started working from home. It does seem like a dream to sit on your couch in your pajamas and write articles for a living.
Are you looking to start a blog?
You might find that the dream fades a bit when you have to actually sit down and do the work. Here are some things you need to figure out about yourself if you are going to try to work from home.
When you work best. For me, this is about 5 am to 12 pm. Ouch. But whenever I try to change my schedule, it doesn’t work. So from here on out, I’m a morning person.
When you really do not work best. After 1 pm, my brain is shot. Sometimes I am able to get a second wind in the evening but usually not. I use this time to research instead or work on my blog. I don’t do any client work in the evening.
What you do for editing. I use Grammarly, and it's not perfect but it works pretty well. Always try to read over your work slowly to catch any errors missed by Grammarly.
Your topics of interest. You may have to write about a lot of things you don’t care about, but you should try to get gigs where you can write about what you like and have knowledge on. It will be better writing.
Your time wasters. That’s pretty much social media for almost everyone.
Your strengths. For me, once I get going, I can create a large amount of content in a short amount of time. You may find a different strength.
Working from home is great but it is not for everyone. Most work from home gigs are some type of creation whether writing or other media. It’s hard to force creativity at first but it does get easier. Once you are living the dream, continue to research and get better at your craft. It will make you stand out from the crowd.
Just need income on the side?
