Blogging is what you make it. It can be a personal space but it can also be a business. This article is focusing on being paid to be a blogger and earning income from your blog. These are things you learn after blogging for awhile.
Create a space to work. You might not be able to have your own office, but that’s okay. You can create a space where you have a desk in the corner of your living room or the guest bedroom. Wherever you work should be a permanent space that you feel like you are “at work” when you sit there.
Choose your blog name wisely. I’ve had several URLs and finally just settled on my name because it didn’t box me in. If you make your URL niche related you might be preventing growth in the future. This is something to keep in mind.
Content is important. The most important thing when starting a blog is having enough quality content for your readers. You don’t want to go live with one post. And you need to keep adding new content.
Find good stock photos. You may need to sign up for a subscription from another blogger specializing in website styled photography if you don’t want to take photos yourself. I know I can’t master the flat lay, so I find them with commercial use okay.
Set time aside in your schedule and make time for your blog. You may be very passionate when you start to blog but that can fade as you find out how much work is involved. Make sure you schedule in your planner time for you to work on your blog each day, or perhaps five days a week.
Just do it. Do not strive for perfectionism and research so much that you never actually blog. You will learn from doing. You’ll need to put yourself out there.
These are some lessons learned overtime while you blog. They are important things to keep in mind while you work on your passion project.
