If you are a blogger then you have a lot on your plate with that alone, nevermind what other responsibilities you have. You might still work full time or be raising kids or both. What should you do to manage your time wisely to get things done? Here are some time management tips for bloggers.
Do you really want to be a blogger? Maybe you don’t necessarily care about blogging that much, but you want to get out of your dead-end job. Whatever your reason, make it clear to yourself and stick to blogging as a means to an end. You can definitely make money blogging and it can change your life if you stick to it.
I don’t know about you, but I’m honestly not interested in hiring a coach. However, a good way to use all those Facebook Groups you joined about blogging is to find a friend you can use as an accountability partner. I think one thing important about this step is to find someone around where you are in the blogging journey. You should be sharing tips and strategies with each other and it should never feel like one of you is getting more out of it than the other.
Create a daily schedule
I love my planner! I personally use a Recollections Planner from Michaels in a verticle layout. However, I know many people like to use theErin Condren Deluxe Monthly Planner. My planner is all kinds of random notes and a to-do list for the day. I also budget in my planner for the month and note household chores I have to get done that day. During school, I keep track of homework and projects. I haven’t always been a planner but now that I am, I can’t go back.
Find the best time to blog
For me, this is early morning. I have a hard time doing much at night and I can’t really focus. Some people might do better at night after work. Whatever time works for you, block it out and stay consistent.
On that note, consistency is very important. You don’t have to post five days a week but you do need to stick to the days that you do post. Right now while I’m on break from college I’ve been trying to post daily. That may seem nuts to you but I’m seeing a lot of growth and its what’s working for me and my blog right now.
What is the most important blog task of the day? Are you even sure? You’ll want to get at least one major thing done that aligns with your blogging goals. For a lot of people, this will probably be writing content. You should get the biggest things out of the way first.
Batching is awesome! It’s great to have one day to focus on making Pinterest Pins and another for writing content. I can’t say I always do this but I do get a lot done when I do it! This probably isn’t a new tip, lots of bloggers batch. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should.
Time blocking is something you can do in your planner. Simply put you schedule certain times to do certain things. This will help you keep track of how much time you actually have to do things.
Hold yourself accountable. If you have deadline goals to meet, make sure you meet them. If you start missing deadlines, a week can easily turn into a month. If you really need to take the day, then do it, but get back at it tomorrow.
This is huge for social media. I wouldn’t be able to live without automation. It’s good to be live on your social media channels to for engagement but nothing beats having things scheduled, especially for Pinterest. If you haven’t already, then you should check out Tailwind. Personally, I think the annual plan is the way to go, and I have seen growth since I bought Tailwind for the year.
With these tips, you should be on your way to proper time management. You’ll get more done on your blog and also in your day to day routines. Do you have any time management tips? Let me know in the comments!
