Get Started Blogging Day 1: Why should you start a blog?

There are a lot of reasons why a person might start a blog. Have you thought about your “why?” I started my blog as an alternative way to make an income for myself due to chronic illness. You might be interested in improving your writing skills or blogging about something you love as a hobby.

All of those reasons are valid. This email course will help you get started on the right foot, and continue to grow.

If you are interested in starting a blog of your own, I created a tutorial that will help you, How to Start a Blog. If you are asking yourself “Can you seriously make money blogging?” My main tip is to be self-hosted. This is essential if you want to monetize your blog. It also makes you look more professional to companies you will partner with. Blogging income won’t happen unless you are self-hosted. You can pick from any of these links: Bluehost, HostGator, or SiteGround.

Below are reasons you may want to think about starting a blog.

As a Hobby

I love blogging but there was a time when I knew nothing about it. Blogging gives me an outlet to write which is one of my favorite things to do (I’m actually going to school for it.) Blogging is a fun hobby and business regardless of subject.

To Help Others

Whatever subject matter you decide to blog about, you are helping other people by doing something you love. People will learn something new and maybe get motivated by your words. You could be inspiring people just by sharing what you know.

I blog about blogging because I just got so obsessed with learning about it. I wanted to share my journey and the information I’ve gained from doing research. Hopefully, I want to get out of debt (Hey, I’m looking at you school loans,) and earn a full time income.

To Create Community

You should create a community with your blog. Make friends and share knowledge. You can connect with people you wouldn’t have met otherwise.

To Grow

Starting a blog is a commitment to having a routine. That was huge for me because back in the day I never stuck with anything. I’ve been working on myself by just keeping a schedule. There are lots of ways you can grow from blogging.

To Create a Business

This is somewhat self explanatory. Of course if you are starting a blog for an income, you are creating a business. The goal is semi-passive income that can change your life. If you stick with it, it could happen to you. I have no plans of giving up any time soon.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s lesson on how to choose a niche.
